Portraits à vélo

Elisabeth. Paris, France. 2026.

Portraits à vélo is a photographic series portraying cyclists within the urban landscape of Paris.

The bicycle provides a point of reference through which the scale of the city becomes visible. Figures, architecture and light enter into a shifting relationship, transforming the street into a space of visual proportion.

These are not conventional portraits, nor are they intended as a survey of Paris. The people and their bicycles are inseparable from the environments they inhabit. Their presence gives measure to the surrounding architecture while interrupting its apparent permanence.

Moving beyond the city's familiar landmarks, the series reveals a Paris shaped by everyday encounters, fleeting geometries and the act of looking.

Presented by the Ville de Paris, Portraits à vélo considers the city not as a collection of monuments, but as a space defined by those who move through it.
